FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What happens during a power outage? Is the switch automatic?

In the case of a hybrid system, when a power outage occurs, the system automatically switches from grid power to solar power in 10 microseconds. This transition is so fast that it is imperceptible, and lights remain on without any noticeable interruption. In the case of an on-grid system, the system stops operating during a power outage due to its anti-islanding protection, which prevents it from synchronizing with the voltage and frequency of the distribution grid.

What happens on cloudy days?

On cloudy days, solar radiation is not completely absent, as solar panels can still capture diffuse solar radiation.

What is the difference between an On-Grid system and a Hybrid system?

An on-grid system is designed to reduce monthly electricity bills. A hybrid system works similarly to an on-grid system but also includes off-grid capabilities, allowing it to provide backup power through batteries during power outages.

How much space does the system require?

Each unit measures approximately 40 × 50 × 15 cm. Dimensions may vary depending on the equipment's power capacity, with higher-capacity units generally requiring more space.

How much can I save with an On-Grid system?

An on-grid system can potentially cover nearly 100% of your daytime electricity consumption, depending on an analysis of your electricity bill and various consumption factors. Each system is designed according to the specific needs and energy requirements of each customer.

What monitoring or control system is available?

Solplanet inverters feature a fully remote monitoring app that can be synchronized with a customer-accessible application, allowing users to monitor system performance, settings, and energy generation in real time.

Does the inverter have certified anti-islanding protection? Can it feed energy into the grid?

Yes, our inverters feature certified anti-islanding protection and meet the requirements for feeding energy into the electrical grid, allowing the electricity distributor to install a bidirectional meter.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How often should maintenance be performed?

Maintenance of pool heating systems is recommended at the beginning and end of each swimming season.

Why can solar collectors develop leaks?

Leaks can occur when water remains inside the capillary tubes when they should be empty. During winter, this water can freeze and expand, causing the tubes to rupture. Another possible cause is direct physical damage.

How many leaks can a solar collector withstand?

Up to four repairs per solar collector can be performed without affecting the efficiency of the pool heating system.

Can the pipes be painted and covered?

Yes, they can.

When should the swimming season start and end?

Solar pool heating systems extend the summer swimming season by approximately three months, providing a swimming season of around six months, typically starting in October and ending in April.

Does the water need to be filtered before reaching the collectors?

Yes. The capillary tubes inside each collector are very narrow, so any debris entering the system could cause blockages.

Can solar collectors be drained?

Solar collectors are designed to drain automatically after completing the heating cycle, using a dedicated drain valve.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How often should the equipment be maintained, and how?

The general recommendation is once a year. In areas with hard water, it is recommended to replace the magnesium anode and perform maintenance at least every six months to ensure maximum efficiency and equipment performance.

How is maintenance performed?

Maintenance includes a general equipment inspection, removal of limescale from the vacuum tubes, and replacement of the magnesium anode. The electric heating element is also inspected and replaced if necessary.

Why does a large amount of hot water come out of the equipment's vent?

This usually happens during summer, when the water temperature tends to exceed normal shower temperatures. This generates steam that escapes through the vent, along with some water. This indicates that the equipment is operating correctly. If desired, a portion of the tubes exposed to solar radiation can be covered to reduce the temperature reached by the water inside the storage tank.

What happens during a power outage if the equipment depends on electricity for its water supply?

The equipment will not have the necessary water pressure to supply the property, as is the case with any household that relies on an electrically powered water pressure system. If the equipment is an atmospheric system, it will continue operating normally.

Can the tubes withstand hail?

Yes, hailstones up to 25 mm in diameter.

Can the solar water heater be installed a considerable distance from the property's faucets?

Yes. As with any conventional water heater, the greater the distance between the faucet and the water heater, the longer the water must travel through the pipes. This means it will take longer for hot water to reach the property, just as with any conventional installation.

Can the roof support the weight of the equipment?

Yes, roofs can support the weight of the equipment, considering that our units have a maximum weight of 300 kg plus the supporting structure, distributed over an area of approximately 90 × 150 cm.

If one tube breaks, does the entire system stop working?

No, the entire system does not stop working unless the tube completely breaks and causes water leakage in an atmospheric water heater. In a pressurized water heater, a tube can be removed while the system continues operating without it.

Can a hot water pump be added to the outlet of an atmospheric water heater?

No, these units are not designed to operate with an additional pump installed at the outlet.
